I saw How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train your Dragon 2 last week, and they filled me so very full of feelings. A lot of them were good feelings, but a lot of them were squicky feelings, so I figured it was worth it to get my cultural analysis on and lay them all on the table.
Spoilers all over the place.
Portrait honoring Mumpis, Founder of the UNION of BRANDOLURS.
These images are snapshots of various constituents of the Brandolur’s Union. The Union supports, protects, and regulates musicians internationally. Mumpis organized the Union, dissolved it, re-organized it, panicked and ran away to the coast to contemplate the musical correlation in seashell patterns for a few years, and finally returned to act as figurehead for the Union, and he’s been more or less comfortable in that role ever since. Mumpis plays the Scrowpipe with the St. Horafrost Chamber Orchestra, and is a prolific composer, some of his most popular works being Exonus Lies Down for a Nap, Intermission on the Lakeshore, and Cierbert’s Pineapple Panic.
